Boxing Boots

The market of boxing boots in the United Kingdom is dominated by two main forces in the shoe market, namely Adidas and Lonsdale. Boxing boots differ slightly from the usual brand of pop-culture trainer – it is said that that boxers need to be light on their toes and so boxing boots are built not only to be extremely light but also to be not to have too much friction on the ring as well, so special rubber on the soles needs to be used to help the boxer manoeuvre his way out of a bad situation. Also, protection of the toes is fairly important and certainly an advantage so that the boxer can step into the ring without having to worry about his toes. It is also important that the soles of the boxing boots are non marking so uneven ring surfaces do not play a part in a boxing fight.

Most boxing boots are made out of a combination of leather and synthetic materials and arranged in panels designed to produce an optimum of flexibility and sturdiness in the ring. Boxing boots, like American football boots and basketball shoes, generally feature extra support around the ankles to prevent sprains should the boxer get knocked over from a punch or fall awkwardly. These ankle areas have extra padding for additional support and comfort, enabling the boxer to fully focus his mind on his opponent. Typically boxing boots are not that expensive, with a good pair costing around £30 in today's market.
