Boxing Pads

Boxing pads are an essential boxing accessory for any boxing trainer or coach. The boxing pads are used by the trainer when sparring with the boxer so he or she can take blows to the hands (raised at head height) without suffering any injury. This allows the training boxer to practice quick sparring punches and counter punches and jabs in a moving environment whilst the boxing trainer is not in any danger of being injured.

It is possible to buy boxing pads which are relevant to all forms of martial arts or other similar contact sports, and there are also boxing-specific boxing pads as well. Most boxing pads will cost around £20 and upwards depending on the model and are an essential purchase. The boxing pads are often curved to allow for the shape of the boxing trainer's open hand to bend slightly which allows more movement of the padded hand from the impact generated by the boxer's punch.

Another type of boxing pad, known as a strike pad, is also available for boxing trainers to purchase. A strike pad differs from the normal boxing pads in that rather than having separate boxing pads for each hand (held at head height to represent the opponents moving head) the boxing strike pad is a single, larger, often rectangular shaped pad that covers the head and torso region of the boxing trainer (thus representing the areas where the boxer is permitted to attack). The boxing trainer will hold the strike pad by its strap using one arm and steady it with the other. Such strike pads are available from as little as £10 online.
