Treadmill

Treadmills are excellent devices to use to get in and stay in shape. They allow you to go for a brisk walk or a nice run indoors when the weather is not suitable to exercise outside. Treadmills are usually used for cardiovascular activity, though you can use ankle weights if you are looking to tone up while using your treadmill.

Treadmills are available at a variety of price marks. The range of cost of treadmills is about £100 - £1,000. Treadmills that you will find around £100 will be manual treadmills. These treadmills do not have a motor and are powered only by you. These are great running machines for people on a budget, but since there is no motor you may be tempted to walk or run at a slower pace than you would if you were on a motorized treadmills. This would mean that you would burn fewer calories and get less benefit from your workout. Though any workout is better than no workout, always strive for the best workout possible.

Right around the £400 price mark you start to find motorized treadmills. If you can afford one, this is where your treadmill shopping should start. When shopping for a treadmill to keep in the home, check on how much weight the treadmill will safely hold. It is not terribly uncommon to find weight limits of around 90kg for less expensive models so if you weigh more than 90kg then you might want to start looking at the higher end of the range. Models around £700 and up tend to be computerised allowing the user to follow a series of predetermined workouts. This is highly beneficial for anyone unsure of how to begin a workout regimen. If you wish to buy in a shop, try out several treadmills before deciding on which one to purchase; many exercise equipment stores will allow this.
